The geometric lines that form the architectural features of this spacious penthouse apartment in the Netherlands were the starting point for Kuster as he developed the interior concept. Located on the top floor of a skyscraper with views over The Hague and North Sea, the designer had a solid base to start from and sought to enhance the existing structural beauty.
The apartment was designed for entertaining. Therefore, attention is focused on the main living spaces with a particular emphasis on the kitchen, which of course is at the heart of any party. The overall ambience is one of tailored masculinity with heavy blocks of stone and industrial metal furniture echoing the geometry of the penthouse’s architecture. This feeling of masculinity is bolstered further by a monochrome palette, accented with metallic details, and then softened with sumptuous textiles, such as furs, satins and velvets, alongside objects from the natural world.
